Seiko Prospex "King Samurai" Save The Ocean Special Edition - SRPE33

Inspired by the world of the manta ray, the Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean Special Edition (ref. SRPE33) proudly brings the deep to your wrist with a dial of graduated blues. The shading suggests sunlight changing as it travels down through the water, and a stamped wave pattern adds texture and movement across the surface. A black ceramic unidirectional elapsed-time bezel frames the dial, and the 43.8mm stainless steel case takes its inspiration from Seiko's best-known diving styles.

Seiko's caliber 4R35 automatic movement, with 23 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour and approximately 41 hours of power reserve, can be wound by hand whenever it suits. A sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on its inner surface protects the dial and its magnified date, while LumiBrite on the hands, indexes and bezel keeps the time visible in low light. With a screw-down crown, a screw case back marked SPECIAL EDITION and 200 meters of diver's water resistance, it finishes on a stainless steel bracelet with a three-fold push-button clasp, secure lock and extender.

  • Save the Ocean Special Edition – a manta ray theme, with SPECIAL EDITION on the case back.

  • Sapphire crystal – with an inner anti-reflective coating over a magnified date.

Timepiece History

Seiko's story began in 1881, when a 21-year-old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. The first watch to carry the Seiko name followed in 1924, and Seiko went on to introduce a long line of watchmaking firsts, including the Quartz Astron, the world's first quartz wristwatch, on December 25, 1969. In 2024, Seiko celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand.

The SRPE33 belongs to the Prospex Sea line, a diver's watch lineage that traces back to 1965, when Seiko introduced Japan's first diver's watch, a self-winding model water resistant to 150 meters that was used on the 8th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition in 1966. In 1975, Seiko's Professional Diver's 600M became the world's first diver's watch with a titanium case, and Seiko has continued to engineer its divers around the demands of real underwater conditions. The SRPE33 continues that heritage as a Save the Ocean Special Edition themed around the manta ray, with SPECIAL EDITION marked on its case back.
